Travel insurance can be invaluable if you need to make a claim, especially in the wake of the CORONA VIRUS pandemic. Millions of people across the UK have had their foreign holidays cancelled over the past few years, which has seen a sharp rise in the number of 'staycations' booked by people looking for a UK getaway. If you are looking to book a luxury hot tub staycation at Tattershall Lakes or elsewhere in the UK it is essential you protect yourself financially with adequate travel insurance that includes COVID-19 cover.
Travel insurance for UK holidays can be seen as a "waste of money" by some people, "its worth having if you go abroad because of medical bills, especially if you have an accident" or "if you get stuck in another country".
But what about if your UK holiday gets cancelled because you have to self-isolate? or you catch COVID-19 yourself? what if you have to be admitted to hospital? These are very real scenarios which UK holiday makers are faced with daily.
One analogy is that holiday insurance can be compared to an umbrella, you could carry it around 'just in-case' it rains. No big deal but, if it did rain at least you wouldn't get wet!

What if I want to go on holiday in the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Before you go on holiday in the UK, It’s important to check your destination is safe to travel to and not in a local lockdown.
If your destination is safe to travel to (including Tattershall Lakes), your trip should be covered by UK travel insurance.
For your UK holiday to be covered, you must have pre-booked and paid for two or more consecutive nights away.
What’s covered with coronavirus travel insurance?

So if the Government say it’s safe to travel to your destination you can travel with peace of mind knowing we’ll cover you for:
- Cancelling your trip if you have COVID-19 within 14 days of travelling*
- Repatriation to help you get back home**
- Additional accommodation and transport if deemed necessary by our medical officer
- Daily benefit if you are ordered to self-isolate in your holiday accommodation if you have COVID-19
- Cancelling or cutting your trip short after death in the family from COVID-19
- Your travelling companion(s), people you live with, or people you’re staying with on holiday being diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days of travel***
This means that if you develop COVID-19 and need help, you’ll be covered as long as you’ve declared your pre-existing conditions.
If you can’t travel and need to change your holiday dates because your trip is cancelled, you should be able to change the dates of your Single Trip Travel Insurance.

Know before you go
With travel advice changing so quickly, it’s important you keep up-to-date with travel advice.
Before you travel, you’ll need to know:
- UK Government say it’s safe to travel to your destination. It’s important you check your destination is safe to visit regularly as advice can change.
- If the Government has advised against all but essential travel to your destination.
- Your destination’s local Government advice, safety guidelines and entry requirements.
We want you to have a safe and relaxing holiday. If you travel against Government advice you won’t be covered if you need to claim.
Even if advice changes while you’re on holiday, you won’t be covered if your destination was listed as unsafe when you travelled.
